The Klondike Derby is an outdoor Winter Camp event organized by Achewon Nimat Lodge for the San Francisco Bay Area Council. The Klondike Derby (also known as the Winter Camp Training outdoor session) was first held in 1975 and gives your troop the ability to take the skills they learned at Winter Camp Awareness Training and apply it in the outdoors. The event varies, but the typical Klondike Derby consists of several stations where patrols/units must test their outdoor Scoutcraft skills and their leadership abilities, earning points towards a total score. One of the competitions is a race between patrols using their homemade snow sled pulled by the Scouts. Click here for a short video .
